Wink Wink
What the hell is wrong with this woman? She's running for Vice President of the United States! This isn't the Miss Alaska contest. Why is she winking? And who exactly does the NY Post think it's kidding? I can't wait for the day that Palin runs back to Alaska with her tail between her legs. And she'll be a lame duck there, too. Because now Alaskans know more about her than they ever did before and they'll despise her.

Can't Stop, Won't Stop
I saw this in the subway station at Union Square. It's an altered ad for Filene's Basement. What does it mean?

Street Art on 9/11
I walked past this 9/11 street art on Bedford Avenue. I thought it was pretty interesting, if not a bit morbid.

Russia's Motives
-- Russia is using the Kosovo conflict as a justification for saying it may recognize S. Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states. However, Russia never recognized Kosovo's independence and was strongly against it.
-- If Russia cares so much about independence for Georgia's breakaway regions, then why hasn't Russia awarded independence to N. Ossetia, which is under its control?
-- If all breakaway republics deserve independence, then why did Russia sacrifice tens of thousands of soldiers' and civilians' lives in two bloody wars to keep Chechnya within its borders?
-- Everyone keeps saying most S. Ossetians are "Russians" but they're not. Russia simply gave them Russian passports. Did that change their ethnicity, or did it just provide an excuse for invasion?
